in a rut...

anyone have any good main dish recipes/dinner ideas out there???

i'm sick of making the same old things. there are lots of recipes out there, but i HATE it when i make a new recipe and it's just...not good.

what are you're tried and true favorites? or do you have an AMAZING recipe for something traditional? any good recipe blogs or websites that you just love? a cookbook you can't live without? even if you think it's a recipe i might already have...don't be bashful. i'm begging for inspiration, here.

we love french bread pizza, taco soup, enchiladas, spaghetti & meatballs, shrimp scampi, chicken and stuffing casserole, chicken with ALL kinds of sauces and marinades, lentil soup, chicken pot pie, beef stroganoff, stir fry, tacos, quesadillas, etc., etc., etc. and i'm happy to share my recipes with anyone who is interested...but we're just stuck in a dinner rut around here.

we need something new!

  1. We have some good recipes for taco soup and chicken enchiladas, and one really good one for fajitas (we eat a lot of Mexican food). My sister came to visit in December and we made them for her- she liked them so much she made them for my parents for dinner, and then my parents made them again the next night. Let me know if you want the recipe - it's just from a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, one of their newer editions

  2. Have you ever gotten on Picky Palate? It's a cooking blog that I follow. She has some good recipes and has an index so you can search by different foods. There's a link to it on my blog or it is www.pickypalate.blogspot.com I think. Good luck!

  4. You don't know me, so hope you don't think I'm weird--I'm one of Brandon's old friends from freshman year :) Anyway, here is a great blog for recipes. I've tried lots of them, and thought they were all good. http://jensyummyfun.blogspot.com

  6. I just got a new cookbook for Christmas--"The Food You Crave" by Elie Krieger. I am in LOVE with it! It's a good combo of healthy and flavorful. (We really like flavorful food--I can't stand bland boring stuff). So far I feel like most of her recipes have been a hit. Maybe I'll come back and post a sample one for you to try out when I have another minute. :)
