bountiful baskets...

I hauled myself out of bed bright and early this morning to pick up my very first order from Bountiful Baskets!

That is beauty my friends.

1 head of romaine lettuce
1 bunch of swiss chard
6 anaheim peppers
6 ears of corn
8 oz. package of mushrooms
1 lb. bag of carrots
6 tomatoes
7 apples
1 canteloupe
6 oz. carton of blackberries
6 bananas
3 mangoes

Now I just need to figure out how to prepare this pretty swiss chard...

Any suggestions?

  1. I made the BEST quiche from a real simple recipe! I found it on I think it's was called cheddar and Swiss chard quiche, sooo good, and easy!

  2. We call it Silverbeet and I like to heat a frying pan with some butter and garlic and add it just as I'm serving dinner. I wilt it down and stir it up and dish it up, just cooked. Delicious!!!

  3. Kasey I LOVE your blog!!! how cute. We fried it with some olive oil and a little cheese sprinkled in there, in a pan and then just put it into a wrap... soo good! how fun that you just found bountiful baskets! sari and I have been doing that for a few months and overall loved it (until I got TEN onions last time... yuck!)

    good luck!

  4. I know I'm super late on this post, but you could still be looking for a good swiss chard recipe, ya never know! lol. anyways. the way we like to do it here in our house is to cut out the thick stem and chop it up. chop up a small/med size red onion and sautee the onion and some garlic with the chard stem until softened. cut the leaves into chunks about 3" thick, and steam until just wilted. Mix the leaves with the onion, stem mixture and season with salt, pepper and balsamic vinegar (if you like vinegar, I love it, but it works just fine without it too). And voila! a nice tasty and relatively easy dish!
