custom nursery art...

my friend commissioned me to make some art for her baby's nursery.

she sent me a picture of his comforter, and i painted these three little coordinating canvases.

they turned out very simple & sweet...
should look cute above his changing table!

last week i did this little damask pattern painting in a custom color for a friend.
it reminded me how much i like art.

i've been so busy crafting that i haven't done much drawing or painting.

(perhaps i should do those paintings for my dining nook i bought the canvases for approximately 1.5 years ago...)

eh.

as long as i'm making something, i'm happy.

a fantastic customer of mine sent me a few photos of her youngest daughter wearing some headbands i made. i asked her if i could share them on my blog and she happily agreed.

love the whole look in this one. that little coat is too adorable.

it just makes me so happy to see people enjoying what i make as much as i do!

customized...

it's always fun to get requests for custom hair accessories. normally people just ask for different sizes or colors...or a hard headband instead of an elastic one...or a pin instead of a clip...things like that.

this time i got to make coordinating clip/headband set for two little girls getting ready for family pictures at the pumpkin patch. they are going to wear black leotards with those tulle tutus that are so popular for little girls right now, so i added some tulle to their hair accessories.
a clip for big sis and a headband for little sis that go together, but don't match exactly. i think they turned out so darling!

buddy...

i haven't posted about any of my projects for awhile, but i've been hard at work on christmas stuff and a commissioned painting.

brandon's aunt has a dog that she pretty much loves more than her own husband and children. (i'm not exaggerating.) his name is buddy. this summer, when she found out i quit teaching to stay home and make art, she commissioned me to paint a portrait of li'l buddy.

this is one of the photographs i used as a reference...

the painting is 11 x 14, done in acrylic. i was a little worried about how it would turn out since a pet portrait isn't something i would normally do, but it only took me 3 or 4 days to complete...it went a lot faster and came a lot more easily than i thought it would.

i was able to give it to her at thanksgiving, and she loved it!

don't worry. they've gotten another dog recently...so i'll be painting that one too. :)
