i'm not dead...

What. a. week.

Tuesday was my 3rd anniversary.
Here we are as newly weds...aww.

What did I do to celebrate?
Just enjoyed a little food poisoning.

(Turns out, barf is not romantic.
But my hubby taking care of me sure is.
LOVE him.)

Needless to say, our anniversary plans have been postponed. :(
But...I'm not dead!  Hooray!
(If you have had food poisoning, you know what I'm talking about.)

In fact, yesterday I finally started to feel much better...
so I played around with some new hair accessory designs.
(while in my pjs.  sipping ginger ale.)

These sweet doily rose headbands are available in 5 different colors.

Check out the shop for more new stuff.
I'm trying to get it stocked up for the upcoming holiday season.
(I've got some AWESOME Black Friday plans, so stay tuned!)

Now if I could just get back to my normal self.
I've got a guest post I need to write...
and I would like to make my fall wreath before fall ends.
Sheesh.

t-shirt teaser...

Geez Louise!
Where have I been all week???

I have done a lot of bike riding in the sunshine and some circuit training in my living room.  Plus, I've been cleaning up around here. (I even scrubbed my stove burner drip pans.  Barf.  Does anyone else hate that with a passion?!)  And I'm all caught up on the laundry...which never happens.  And my dad was in town for a day so we went out for Thai food.  And there were art lessons to teach.  Oh--and the hubs and I even made cookies together.  (Aww.)  So apparently in the midst of all that, creating fell by the way side.

Sheesh.
I've got t-shirts to embellish, people!

The next one is still in the works, but here's a sneak peak...

Any guesses?  :)

daffodil wreath FAIL...

One thing you need to know about me is that I have a hard time with the color yellow.  We've never really gotten along all that well.

Yellow-orange? Great.
Mustard? Fine.

But straight-up yellow only works for me under certain circumstances.

For example, I love the yellow daffodils and the red and yellow tulips that grow in my yard in the spring.  Here's a couple shots from last year...

Great, right?

So, with this in mind, I thought that it would be a fantastic idea to make a springy daffodil wreath (using a method similar to my candlestick topiary--which is lovely) to hang on my bright red front door.  I spent two hours making this...

And it didn't turn out how I had envisioned, but I thought it was okay-ish...
until I really looked at it.

Isn't it kind of reminiscent of Big Bird?

Or something out of a Dr. Seuss book?

Maybe the problem is the shape of the daffodil petals.  (Too feather-like?)
Or all of the bright yellow centers. (Too polka-dot looking?)
Or it just doesn't jive with the red door?
Or maybe I'm just a crazy, yellow-hater and what was I thinking doing an all yellow project when I KNOW I have this yellow problem?!

(Probably all of the above.)

But now I need to figure out something better for my front door.

(Anyone have any good ideas on how I can salvage this bad boy?  Or should I just rip out all of those flowers and use all the parts for something else?)

shipping & handling FAIL...

i ordered some inexpensive crafting supplies from a "certain" company. (see photo below.) the shipping was flat rate, so i made sure to order several things so it was worth the money.

this large box arrived in the mail today.
i got a knife...

cut through the packing tape...

opened the flaps...

took out the air pocket packaging thingys...

and saw this:
um...seriously?!

THEY FORGOT TO PUT MY ORDER IN THE BOX.

out of all the things i ordered i got one teensy packet of pearl embellishments in a giant box.

{you've got to be kidding me.}

customer service kindly offered to refund the money to my card or send me a gift card for the purchase amount. i reminded her that i had just paid shipping & handling charges to ship a practically empty box...

the rest of my order is (hopefully) on it's way.

sheesh...

i've been working, working, working today.

but i don't have much to show for it.

--sigh.

a lot of experimenting = a lot of failed experiments

here's hoping for a less frustrating tomorrow.

once upon a time...

...i accidentally got the glue from fusible interfacing all over my iron.

--grrr.

fortunately, i have the internet so i eventually figured out how to get it off. (make a paste of baking soda & water, scrub with washcloth. worked like a charm.)

--thank you, google.

my iron is good as new, and i continue to craft...
happily ever after.

and now for some unrelated photos...

the end.

so...this one time...i got hit by a bus...

don't worry. i'm uninjured, although my spirit is a little wounded. unfortunately, ruby--our red rav4--didn't fare so well.

here's the scoop...

i was waiting to turn right at a red light at the intersection of bulldog blvd. and 500 west (state street) in provo. when the light turned green, i began to move forward until i realized there was a pedestrian waiting to cross at the crosswalk. she had the "walk" sign--and the right of way--so i stopped and waved her on. then her eyes got REALLY big...

...and i got hit by a bus.

i was rear ended by a provo district school bus full of kindergarteners. (okay...it was empty, but wouldn't that make the story even better? haha.) the bus driver told the police officer he didn't see the pedestrian. apparently he didn't notice my glaring red brake lights either...

after i called the police, i called bran. i didn't need help, but he came to help me feel better. and he called the insurance company and the school district's insurance company and took pictures...and hugged me. :)

it could have been a lot worse, but i'm so sad about our rav. we haven't even made our first payment on it yet and it still has temporary plates. now she needs a new rear windshield, back door, rear tire cover, rear bumper, rear windshield wiper, and who knows what else...

there is glass EVERYWHERE. the interior is covered in shards.

i couldn't show the officer my registration because we haven't even gotten it yet...

i'm so glad the spare is on the back. i think it helped cushion the impact.

sigh.

so that's the sad tale of how i got hit by a bus. fortunately, no kindergarteners were harmed...and hopefully everything is fixable.
