honeymooners....

after the reception, brandon and i started our honeymoon at a bed and breakfast in salt lake city called armstrong manor. all of the rooms were named for a month of the year...ours was the master suite "june bride." it wasn't june...but i was the bride. and it was fancy. check out that in-room jacuzzi. we were happy to be in here instead of out in the snow...

in the morning, we went down to the dining room for quiche, strawberry trifle, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, granola, cereal, toast, bagels, apple crumble, an assortment of juices...it was delicious!

once we finished our delectable meal, we packed up and headed to sunny san diego. brandon rented us a car and a condo for the week. we stayed right on mission beach. the condo had HUGE windows with beautiful ocean views. the first night we were there we just checked out our place, the beach, and ate giant slices of pizza.

before we left, brandon had purchased some 3-in-1 passes for san diego--unlimited 5-day entry for sea world, the zoo, and the wild animal park. so on monday we headed to sea world...and it was my favorite by far. we watched the dolphin show, the sea lion show, the shamu show...rode the water rides...looked at the exhibits. we decided we want a dolphin. and a whale.

the next day, we walked down on the boardwalk....

...and then went back to sea world to participate in the dolphin interaction program!!! we had a little class about dolphins, put on some wet suits, and got in the water with maggie--a 5 year old atlantic bottle nosed dolphin. she was so cute. she acted a lot like a 5 year old...and she was ticklish :) each person got to do an individual behavior with her (i put my hands in a circle under the water and she stuck her nose in...), give her a hug and kiss (i kissed a dolphin!), and then we did a whole bunch of different behaviors with her. she jumped, wiggled, made noises, played dead, acted like a shark, all kinds of stuff. then at the end, we got to shake her flippers. now we really want a dolphin.

after we showered and got cleaned up, we went out to a very nice steakhouse for steak and shrimp. we were so busy enjoying our amazing food, i didn't take any pictures. but trust me--it was dang good.

the next day we went to san diego zoo AND the wild animal park. it was a lot of walking. a lot. but it was fun. (apparently we really like to walk around and look at stuff, whether it be animals or artwork.) here are a few pics from the zoo...

the following day, after sleeping in to recover from our miles of walking, we went to the san diego temple. we actually got to go twice because i left my recommend at the condo the first time :) it was wonderful to have the chance to go to the temple after having just been sealed days before. and the san diego temple is probably the most beautiful building i've ever been in...the salt lake temple is a very close second.

here is a shot of one of the 5 gorgeous sunsets we were able to enjoy....

on our last night in san diego, we walked down the boardwalk to belmont park where we ate shave ice, rode the 1920's era roller coaster, and got ourselves a souvenier refrigerator magnet.

we were very sad to leave the next morning, but once we arrived back in utah and got home to our condo...it was like christmas! we had a lot of fun opening all of the gifts we received from our generous friends, collegues, and family.

hopefully we'll get our wedding day pics soon...

  1. Totally jealous ... your honeymoon looks awesome! What's funny is that as I'm reading this I'm thinking, "That would be a great trip, but it would be hard with Grant. Where would he sleep and how would he get his nap....." Enjoy the no-kid-lifestyle for a while!

  2. Wow, so fun, I love San Diego. I would love to live there if I had the dough. Congrats on your wedding. I planned on going to your reception, but then they started the football game late that day and we only bought tickets to 2 games, so we had to go to that one . . . Jealous of the dolphin swimming!
