buddy...

i haven't posted about any of my projects for awhile, but i've been hard at work on christmas stuff and a commissioned painting.

brandon's aunt has a dog that she pretty much loves more than her own husband and children. (i'm not exaggerating.) his name is buddy. this summer, when she found out i quit teaching to stay home and make art, she commissioned me to paint a portrait of li'l buddy.

Buddy, acrylic, 2009

the painting is 11 x 14, done in acrylic. i was a little worried about how it would turn out since a pet portrait isn't something i would normally do, but it only took me 3 or 4 days to complete...it went a lot faster and came a lot more easily than i thought it would.

i was able to give it to her at thanksgiving, and she loved it!

don't worry. they've gotten another dog recently...so i'll be painting that one too. :)
