"six B's" sign re-do...

This is a quick little project I threw together yesterday afternoon.

I've had this framed "Live, Laugh, Love" sign hanging in my entry for a few years now, so I decided to switch it up a bit.

All I needed was some fabric from the remnant bin and a little coordinating "Six B's" printable I whipped up.

(The "Six B's" come from a special talk for the youth given by Gordon B. Hinckley when I was in high school.  Those words have stuck in my mind ever since, so I decided to hang them on the wall.)

First, I just took apart the existing picture and used the cardboard backing as a guide to cut out my fabric.  Some pretty wrapping paper would work great, as well.

Then, I taped it to the cardboard.

You could mod podge it or use spray adhesive for a permanent fix, but I wanted to keep it removable so I can change out the signage whenever I get the urge.

Then I just cut out my little printables, stuck 'em on with double sided tape, and slid the whole thing back in the frame.  Easy peasy!

I've turned the "Six B's" into a free printable so you can use them, too.

"creativity is messy" free printable...

It's been awhile since I've made any printables, so I thought I'd make a fun one featuring my personal mantra...

Perfect for an art studio or craft room don't you think?
(I consider myself a professional mess-maker.)

I'm going to hang this little beauty in a white frame whenever I actually get around to painting/re-decorating my spare bedroom studio.  It will make me feel better about the chaos. Haha.

Grab the watermark-free 8 x 10 HERE.
{ Personal use only please. :) }

as requested...

Oh man.  Spring cleaning is in full swing around here.

I'm a crazy person and decided to empty out and reorganize EVERY closet in our house.  This place looks like it exploded.  We may be spending our life's savings on Sterilite totes and adhesive labels, but it will be worth it.  I should have taken before pictures.  (Just imagine the most jam-packed closets you can think of, full of the most random crap ever and you'll be right on target.)  I'll be sure to share the after shots, though.

I recently had a request for a "He Lives" Butterfly Printable with a white background, so as to be a little more economical ink-wise.  In between cleaning and sorting and purging unwanted items, I was happy to take a time-out to oblige...

Download the watermark free version HERE.

In other news, I did paper character puppets with some of my younger art students this week.  They did Easter bunnies, Tangled, and Mickey/Minnie Mouse.  This is what I came up with...

I occasionally like to walk through the house, waving them around while saying things like, "I'm Harry Potter...Expecto Patronum!!!" in my best British accent (of course).  My husband thinks I've lost my mind.

He may be right.

Now, what's the spell for reorganizing closets again?...

free easter butterfly printable...

It's super cold and rainy where I live today, but that doesn't mean I can't bring a little spring indoors.  I am really looking forward to Easter this year.  In fact, I wish we as a society made as big a deal out of Easter as we do Christmas.  The Atonement and Resurrection of Christ are the greatest miracles the world has ever known.  I think that's worth celebrating.

So I thought I'd spread some Easter cheer with a few free printables.  These are 8 x10 prints, available in three colorways.  Click on the links below each image for a watermark free file.

Feel free to print as many as you like for personal use. May this Easter holiday bring you all hope and joy and maybe even a miracle.  (I know I could sure use one.)

More Easter/Spring posts to come!

a lucky printable...

I can't say that I'm a big celebrator of St. Patrick's Day.
I mean...I'll wear green if I remember, but that's about it.  I imagine I'll be more into it when I have kids.  I think I'll pass on dying all of our food green until then. :)

However, I was messing around on my computer the other night and decided to throw together a litttle printable.  You know, for fun.

It's an 8 x 10...so just print and throw it in a standard frame.
Grab the file HERE or right click and save the image above.

(And stay tuned for some Easter goodies in the next few weeks. I'm all about Easter.)

made with love: cupcake toppers

made with love week
is in full swing!

if you're joining us late, budget gourmet mom and stay-at-home artist have teamed up for a week of valentine's day inspired recipes and free printables.  be sure to check out the week's previous posts so you don't miss out on any of the fun!

my printable for today is just too dang cute.
add a bit of valentine's day flair to a batch of cupcakes or muffins
with these sweet little toppers...
i mean, who can resist a love muffin?  i know i sure can't.

first, get the file HERE.
(personal use only, please.)

then, use a 1-inch circle punch to cut them out.

for two-sided toppers, glue two circles together with the toothpick sandwiched in between.

or you can take the easy way out (like me), and make one-sided toppers by attaching the circle to the toothpick with a sticker on the back. (i used those white circular office label stickers, but any kind will do.)

i also layered a few of my "love" circles with some die-cut flower shapes...
but you could skip this step and just cut the circles out with a scalloped punch to begin with.  i don't have a scallop punch, so i improvised!

now if you don't have a fresh batch of love muffins on hand,
you better head on over to budget gourmet mom for the how-to on these sweetheart cupcakes...
 triple chocolate?  'nough said.

resolutions...

hello, blog friends!
sorry i've been MIA lately...
still fighting that nasty cough and can't seem to shake it.  as soon as i'm back to my old self, i'll get cracking on some seriously neglected projects (and show you some of my sweet christmas loot :) ).

in the mean time, i've got new year's on my mind...

do you make new year's resolutions?

i don't really.  whenever i have a goal i want to accomplish, i don't wait until january 1st.  i just decide right then that i have a new goal.

but there is something great about a brand new year full of possibilities.

2010--the good & bad--will be neatly packed away...
and 2011--fresh & unblemished--will stretch before us.
that's a good feeling.
(can i just say that, i'm so done with 2010?)

i can understand why people would want to take the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives.  so maybe i'll set some goals this year, too.

they say that people who write their resolutions down are more likely to achieve them, so i've made some lovely new year's printables.
(i'm not sure who "they" are...but you know what i mean.)

print one out, write down your goals, and hang your pretty list in a prominent place where you'll see it often.  let's make 2011 a good year.

free "let it snow" printable...

fact: i love snowflakes, but i hate snow.

i hate driving in it.
i hate walking through it.
(especially when the bottom of your pants get all wet and then you're freezing for the rest of the day.)
and i hate shoveling it.
(fortunately i now have a husband who kindly takes care of that part.)

but individual snowflakes are so pretty.

apparently we're about to get a WHOLE bunch of them this afternoon with winds up to 35 mph.  yikes!
i'll be in my house, in my pajamas, eating something hot if you need me.

in the mean time, enjoy this free "let it snow" printable...
